Nasarawa(FIC LAFIA) Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State, recently donated a brand new office accommodation located along Makurdi Road, Lafia, to augment the work of Federal Road Safety Commission in the State.
The Governor while commissioning and handing over the office to the Corps Marshal, Dr.Boboye Oyeyemi, stated that the commitment of his administration was aimed at collaborating with the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state, in order to ensure that lives and properties of commuters in the state are safe.
The Governor speaking further stated that, giving the Commission an office by the road side was necessary, in order to bring them closer to their duty post, as well as to assist in the training of the State Youth Empowerment Scheme popularly known as NAYES, on traffic control and other skills that will add to the safety of lives in the state.
He further stressed that the commitment effort of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in the state cannot be over emphasised hence the need for continuous support to them by the State Government at all times.
According to him, the donation was also to help enhance effective service delivery by the FRSC in curtailing the rate of accidents on roads.
Also,10 vehicles were purchased and delivered to the Fire Service Office, and would be located in major markets across the 3 senatorial zones of the state.
The Governor said the effort was aimed at ensuring quick responses to any emergency fire incidence that might occur in any market.
In his response the Corps Marshals of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi thanked the Governor for the gesture done to his organization stating that this will help to strengthen the Federal Government inter-agencies relationship and equally assured of his organization’s readiness for ueffective and efficient service delivery in the state.
