15 Commissioners take oath of office In Nasarawa State

FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – In his efforts to entrench purposeful leadership and socio-economic development of the state, Nasarawa State Governor Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule has sworn in fifteen (15) new Honourable Commissioner as members of his Executive Council in an elaborate ceremony that took place at Lafia City Hall Friday February 21st, 2025.

He pointed out that the reconstitution of the State Executive Council is in furtherance of his administration’s solemn commitment to strengthen the public service towards making it more responsive and vibrant inline with the yearnings and aspirations of the good people of Nasarawa State.

”It is with gratitude to God and a sense of fulfilment that I address you today on the occasion of the swearing in of the Hon. Commissioners and Members of the State Executive Council. Let me acknowledge the presence of distinguished personalities, party supporters and associates who are here to demonstrate to the appointees and indeed to our administration your commitment.

”No doubt, your sustained support to this government has being an inspiration that is sporting us to execute projects and programmes that has direct bearing on the lives of the people.

”These desire informed the assemblage of tested and experienced individuals who had excelled in their various undertaken towards effective and efficient implementation of government policies and programmes.

”As you settle down in your various ministries, I urge you to acquaint yourselves with the Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy (NEDS) document which serves as our guide to the implementation of policies and programmes of this administration in order to continue to work in line with our mandate.” The Governor noted.

He also called on the appointees to work towards entrenching good working relationship with the bureaucrats in service and staff of their various ministries in order to create the needed conducive atmosphere that would pave way for efficient service delivery moving forward.

The Governor equally enjoined the new appointees on the need to exemplify hard work, dedication, commitment, loyalty and selfless service as they settle down and take on their statutory responsibilities of helping government achieve her set objectives.

“I therefore remind you all that public service is public trust. You are therefore coming at a time when this administration is poised to achieving more robust development that would be enduring and all inclusive.” The Governor observed.

He charged the appointees to rise up to the developmental challenges ahead by being dedicated and result oriented as it is the only way to be-quite a worthy legacy which would remain indelible in the sand of history of Nasarawa State.

Engineer Sule also stated that those sworn in as Members of the State Executive Council were carefully selected after extensive consultation of critical stakeholders in the state and the due diligence exemplified by Members of the State House of Assembly who screen them culminated to their swearing in.

”I note therefore, with appreciation the due diligence and sense of patriotism as well as the strength which the Honourable Members of the State House of Assembly conducted the screening exercise.

“This show of patriotism I believe will continue to shape and define our mutually beneficial relationship with the seventh Assembly as well as continue to rekindle our synergy towards building the Nasarawa State of our collective dream.” The Governor asserted.

He equally enjoined the appointees to align themselves with the his administration’s policy on accountability and prudent management of resources by abhorring all corrupt tendencies and congratulated them for their well deserved appointments as they bring their wealth of experience to bear in public service.

Commenting on why the 16th screened Commissioner nominee Margaret Elayo was not sworn in along with the rest 15 that took their oath of office the Governor noted as follows:
”I thank the Speaker and Honourable Members that we submitted 16 names and you have approved the 16 names. Today, you can see that we have only sworn in 15 out of the 16. As an administration that believes in transparency and prudent management of resources, there is one item we are trying to confirm before we can actually come to swear in the next Commissioner by God’s grace.” He asserted.

He stressed that the matter they are trying to confirm came up shortly after she had been screen and confirmed by the state Assembly.

The disclosed further that the pending issues in the Teachers Service Commission report that had been submitted would be looked into now that the Executive Council has been constituted, necessary measures would be taken.

”Indeed, without any ambiguity, a lot of bad things had happened in the last Teachers Service Commission members. From the Chairman all the way to the other members – without any ambiguity, government has no any other choice than actually to terminate their appointment immediately,” he stated.

He assured the people of the state that he would constitute new members of the State Teachers Service Commission who would determine the fate of the over 3,000 teachers recruited through an independent body that would screen the over 3,000 and employ only one thousand Five hundred teachers for the state.

In a vote of thanks on behalf of the new appointees, Hajiya Munira Abdullahi expressed profound gratitude to Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule for the honour and trust he bestowed on them in counting them worthy for the appointment.

She applauded the Governor for his inspiring transformative programmes and polices that has elevated Nasarawa State to the top 3 economically viable states in the country.

The Governor before ending his speech at the swearing in ceremony read assigned portfolios for his new Commissioners as follows:

2. Kwanta Yakubu ( Akwanga) Youth and Sports Development.
3. Dr. Ibrahim Tanko (Keffi) Information, Culture and Tourism.
4. Dr. Gaza Gwamna (Toto) Commissioner for Health
5. Hajiya Munira Abdullahi (Doma) Commissioner for Fiance, Budget and Planning.
6. Aminu Mu’azu Maifata (Lafia) Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs.
7. Muazu Adamu Gosho (wamba) Works, Housing and Transport.
8. Barr. Isaac Danladi (Karu) Ministry of Environment.
9. Jumbo, Hauwa Samuel ( Wamba) Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
10. John D.W Mamman ( Kokona ) Education.
11. Gabriel Agbashi (Doma) Ministry of Science and Technology
