FIC Report (Lagos State) – Lagos, Nigeria: As President Bola Tinubu marks his second anniversary in office, the question on every Nigerian’s mind is: have his policies improved our lives? No doubt, the President’s administration has been marked by bold reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy and promoting growth.
The administration of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has undertaken two major reforms, viz: removal of oil subsidy and the abolishment of the multiple exchange regimes. In Mr President’s words, “the two were no longer sustainable and have become a chokehold on our nation’s neck, strangling our nation’s future”.
He highlighted the significance of the removal of fuel subsidies to free the country from its embedded manipulation and corruption. However, the move has been both praised and criticized. While it has led to increased fuel prices, it has also freed up resources for more targeted social programs.
The President’s tax reforms aim to make life easier for small businesses and low-income households. With essential goods and services like food, education, and healthcare now exempt from VAT, many Nigerians are hoping for some relief.
But what about security? The President has emphasized the importance of protecting lives and property, and his administration has reported some successes in restoring order in previously troubled areas.
As Nigeria navigates these challenging times, the President’s words offer a glimpse into his vision for the country’s future. Will his policies bear fruit soon? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain – Nigerians are watching with bated breath.
In his speech, President Tinubu acknowledged the difficulties faced by many Nigerians, but emphasized the progress made so far. As the country looks to the future, one thing is clear: the next two years will be crucial in determining the success of his administration’s policies.
