The 2026 Nigerian Armed Forces Celebrations and Remembrance day Commences today, Friday, 9 January 2026, with Special Juma’at prayer, at the National Mosque, Abuja, Central mosques in the 36 states, and all military formations nationwide with the theme: “Valour, Sacrifice, and Unity: Honouring Our Heroes” — a theme chosen to highlight the role, professionalism and sacrifice of the Nigerian Armed Forces in the present dispensation.

At the National Mosque, Abuja a special prayer was offered for fallen heroes, Leaders, serving military personnel, and national peace, accompanied by sermons on sacrifice, unity and patriotism.

Dignitaries in attendance including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, ably represented by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, Governors, Ministers, amongst them was the Hon. Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim fsi, who was represented by a powerful team led by Malam Lawal Suleiman (Director Finance & Account) of the FMWASD, others were Service Chiefs, senior officials and veterans, other officials from the Alh. Musa Aliyu Musa (Director in the Child Department), Lawal Wada Nas (Deputy Director/SA to PS ), Muktar Uba (Deputy Director Procurement Department as well as Ahmed Lawan Danbazau mnipr, Head, Press and Public Relations Department of the FMWASD.
