2026 UTME: Imo CP Assures Robust Security, Directs Deployment To Examination Centres

FIC Report (Imo State) – The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, has assured candidates, examination officials, and the general public of comprehensive security arrangements to ensure a safe, peaceful, and hitch-free conduct of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across the state.

The assurance was contained in a statement issued in Owerri by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, ahead of the examination scheduled to hold from April 16 to April 25, 2026.

As part of proactive measures, the CP, during a strategic security meeting at the Command Headquarters, directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to identify all JAMB offices and accredited examination centres within their jurisdictions and ensure the deployment of adequate personnel and operational assets before, during, and after the examination period.

He further ordered the intensification of visibility policing across the state, including sustained patrols and surveillance around examination centres, to deter criminal activities and ensure prompt response to any security threats. The CP warned that any officer found negligent in the discharge of assigned duties would face appropriate disciplinary action.

In addition, personnel of the State Intelligence Department (SID) have been strategically positioned to provide intelligence support and enhance operational effectiveness throughout the examination period.

While wishing candidates success in their examinations, CP Bosso cautioned against involvement in examination malpractice and any form of disorderly conduct, warning that offenders would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with extant laws.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining peace and security in the state and called on residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies to ensure the success of the exercise.
