243 Technical School Teachers Trained by FG in North-West Zone

FIC Report (Kaduna State) – The Federal Ministry of Education, in partnership with the World Bank, has successfully trained 243 technical school teachers and instructors across North-west Zone Nigeria, under the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) project.

The initiative, a World Bank-assisted project managed by the ministry, is designed to boost technical education through its Component 3 framework, focusing on strengthening the capacity of technical educators.

The project aims to increase the number of competent and motivated technical teachers in Nigeria by providing pre-service and in-service training. It also seeks to enhance professionalism, global competitiveness, and bridge skills gaps, ensuring sustainable development and improving the employability of graduates.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the training, Minister of State for Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, said the participants were trained in digital literacy, pedagogy, and trade-specific skills to improve their teaching effectiveness.

He said Technical education equips individuals with practical knowledge and skills essential for success in their fields.

He also explain that the demand for a skilled workforce is rising as technological advancements reshape industries and create new opportunities.

The Minister was Represented by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Boriowo Folashade, where the Minister urged the newly trained educators to empower their students upon returning to their respective schools and centers.

He noted that the training would update their knowledge, improve their skills, and equip them with the latest teaching methodologies.

Alusa reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing quality education that meets 21st-century demands.

He mentioned that modernising our curricula, upgrading facilities, and supporting educators.

Minister also express that the training reflects our dedication to continuous improvement and belief in education’s power to transform lives.

Also speaking, at the event ,the Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr. Suleiman Umar, represented by Deputy Rector (Academic) Dr. Grace Jamila Bila, said the program had strengthened participants’ technical expertise and introduced modern pedagogical approaches for effective knowledge transfer.

He commended the participants for their dedication and resilience throughout the training while appreciating the Federal Ministry of Education and the World Bank for their support.

He also said their contributions have laid a strong foundation for a skilled workforce that will drive economic growth.
