JOINT EXECUTIVE AND LEGISLATIVE RETREAT; the way forward
Promoting effective Executive and Legislative partnership; finding middle ground was the theme of the two day retreat organised for both Executive and Legislative at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday 5th October to Tuesday 6th October 2020.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly matters, Sen. Babajide Omoworare in his welcome address thanked His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari, the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives for this joint initiative.
He said since the inception of this administration, Mr. President and the leadership of the 9th assembly have taken proactive measures to foster and deepen cooperation between both arms of the government.
Therefore the retreat is a welcome development geared towards enhancing the synergy between the two as well as improve communication and information sharing which will on the long run strengthen effective partnership that will lead to accountability, efficiency and effective management of public resources in line with Mr president’s development priorities.
The first paper titled ‘’Effective communication and Collaboration between the Executive and Legislative arms of the Government: challenged, opportunities and recommendations ‘’ was presented by the senate president, Sen. Ahmad lawan.
The event will feature more paper presentation, discussion and interactive session.
