The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, confirmed the appointments of three nominees to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) as Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Commissioner.
The appointments were made pursuant to section 34(1) of the Electric Power Sector Reform Act (EPSR) 2005, while the confirmation of the nominees followed the consideration of the report presented by Senator Gabriel Suswan (PDP- Benue North) Chairman, Senate Committee on Power.
In his presentation, Sen. Suswan stated that the committee observed that the nominees are all qualified to hold the positions ascribed to them on the Governing board of NERC and that they possess the requisite experience for the position.
The confirmed nominees are Engr. Sanusi Garba, as Chairman, Dr. Musiliu O. Oseni as Vice Chairman and Aisha Mahmud as Commissioner
In a related development, during the screening of the nominees, Members of the Senate Committee on Power charged Dr. Oseni and Aisha Mahmud to be good representation and Ambassadors of the youth in this dispensation.
