Rivers Government promises to upgrade State’ Polytechnic to global standard

PORT-HARCOURT (FIC’ Report) – The Rivers State Government has vowed to put on every necessary requirement to make sure that the Rivers state Polytechnic, Port-Harcourt has the capacity of competing with its peers all over the world.

This was made known by the Rector of the Institution, Dr. Samuel Kalagbor when he hosted the House Committee on Information Communication Technology of the State House of Assembly. He explained that the Institution could be able to establish and constitute uninterruptable access to internet.

He revealed that the institution had previously started the process but could not achieve its objectives due to financial constrain; he also revealed that a modality has been put in place to achieve this feat whereby the students and staff can contribute to provide uninterrupted internet services at all times and at reduced rate.

However, he explained that implementation of the internet building would be in phases, and noted that arrangement on form sales and purchase will soon commence, including online registration and accessing of results.

Finally, the Chairman of the House Committee on ICT, Hon. Wanaka Okpokiri Wanaka said that the committee visited the school purposely to ensure that assistance is given to enable the institution achieve their target goal.
