The Youth Alliance For Transparent Leadership in Nigeria (YATLEAD-NIG) on Monday presented its ‘Icon of National Transformation’ award on Mr. Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi, the Director General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, BPSR.
The award conferred on Arabi is in recognition of the BPSR helmsman’s selfless service to humanity, according to the group.
Speaking at the Federal Secretariat’s office of the Bureau after handing over their organisation’s award plaque to Mr. Dasuki Arabi, the leader of the YATLEAD-NIG delegation, Comrade Suleiman Idris, noted that the BPSR Director General deserves to be honoured for championing critical reforms in the Nigerian public service, since assuming office in 2018.
He said that the decision of their organisation to confer their ‘2023 Icon of National Transformation Award’ on the BPSR DG is informed by the sterling achievements he has recorded, in terms of repositioning the Nigerian public service and making it a world class institution that will drive good governance in the country.
Comrade Idris, while describing Arabi as an intellectual and forthright public servant committed to the nation’s socio-economic progress, tasked other public officers to commit themselves to serving the Nigerian masses selflessly, like their honoree.
“BPSR, under your visionary leadership, has become a viable and robust engine room of reforms in our public service. You and your team are behind the success stories of the Treasury Single Account, TSA, the National Identity Number, NIN, and also, the Integrated Payroll and Personnel and Information System, IPPIS, among several others.
“We have no doubt that you and your management team have already laid the foundation for an effective Nigerian public service, looking at the groundbreaking achievements BPSR has recorded in terms of driving sound and qualitative reforms in Nigeria’s public.
“Without gainsaying, you have written your name in gold, Mr. DG, and never in the annals of BPSR will your iconic personality be forgotten. Your legacies will always remain indelible. Indeed, your types, which are rare, are the kind of persons Nigerian youths look up to for mentorship and guidance,” he added.
Responding, Mr. Dasuki Arabi, appreciated YATLEAD-NIG for honouring him with their ‘transformation award’, saying he has been motivated to do more for the public service and the nation, in general.
He noted that the task of building a virile, advanced and prosperous Nigeria demands the collective efforts of all, calling on the youths who honoured him to be the vanguards of positive change and advocate of national unity and integration.
Arabi said: “I am deeply honoured to receive your special award. It is one that will mean so much to me, decades to come. The thing is, the Nigerian public service is on course to become a model for other world nations.
“And at BPSR, we are very much committed towards actualizing that goal. Truly, this your award will only motivate and spur us to continue giving our all, for Nigeria’s progress and development”.
