In Governance, Quality is Prominent to a Sustainable Development - DG BPP – Mamman Ahmadu, FNIQs

The Director General, Bureau of Public Procurement (DG, BPP) Mamman Ahmadu said, in governance quality is prominent in all services for a sustainable development, adding that, it is the best thing that brings people’s attention and make them to appreciate governance.

The DG made this remarks when he had in audience, a procurement delegation from the Due Process and public procurement Bureau, Abia state, who were on a study tour to BPP.

Mr. Mamman Ahmadu, advised Nigerians to proffer solutions to issues as every problem will have it solution, he said, peer review mechanism is always the best form of getting understanding, thereby, having issues solved. He appreciated the coming of the Abia state Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau to the office. Stating that, their visit will enable them get more knowledge on procurement matters.

The DG counselled the visitors to re-strategize and address weaknesses, stressing that, “we should determine to change things for greater achievements and not depend on small successes”. Mr. Mamman said,“E-Procurement addresses human lapses and brings greater success in the procurement sector, as quality takes the lead in all services.”Adding that, “we will go through your procurement law document, make observations and guide you appropriately”.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Director of Finance in the Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau, Mrs. Chukwuma Ijeoma Thelma, said, their visit was to get acquainted with the E-Procurement process as applied at Federal level to enable them apply it in the state.

She said, the Abia State Due Process Office are ready to learn and to overcome challenges that are facing them. She requested that, BPP collaborates with the state to enable them succeed.

The Deputy Director, Procurement, Due Process Office, Abia State, Mr. Okwara highlighted on the procurement activities and challenges in the state.

The Director Finance, along the Deputy Director procurement, presented the Abia State Procurement Law document to the DG, BPP, while the DG, also presented copies of the 2007 Procurement Act (PPA, 2007) and other documents to the visitors.
