The Permanent Secretary of Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mrs. Esuabana Nko Asanye, has called on Taraba State government to invest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education and Agriculture for socio-economic development of the State.

According to Esuabana, no nation can develop without STEM education, and therefore, encourage the States, particularly Taraba State to invest in the sector through the Primary and Secondary Schools.

Esuabana said this when a delegation from the Ministry of Science and Technology Taraba State led by the Honorable Commissioner, Muslim Usman Abdullahi paid her a courtesy visit today, in Abuja.

The Permanent Secretary, said that FMIST will continue to collaborate with the State in order to enhance technological advancement, create jobs, wealth and alleviate poverty in the State and the nation at large.

She also said that Taraba State is blessed with abundant natural resources such as vegetation, mambilla plateau, food, electricity, stressing that if properly harnessed can achieve the State’s quest for self-reliance.

The Permanent Secretary advised the State Ministry to create nutrition Department for proper feeding of the populace, stressing that health is wealth, and when they are well fed, it will build their morale and capacity which will contribute to the socio-economic development of the State.

Esuabana further enjoined the people of State to live in peace, emphasizing that without peace, there will be no meaningful development in the State.

In the same vein, she said that the State can increase revenue by identifying her natural and mineral potentials as well as collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals in order to enhance her Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

To this end, she commended the State Ministry of Science and Technology for coming to under study the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology on how to technologically advance the State’s research materials and commercialized them for socio- economic development of the State and Nigeria in general.

Speaking, the Honorable Commissioner of Taraba State Ministry of Science and Technology, Muslim Usman Abdullahi, said that the Governor is working hard to ensure that the State is one of the best States in the country through the Ministry of Science and Technology for the socio-economic development.

He further said that the main aim of their coming is to collaborate with the FMIST so as to transform Taraba State from consumption and importing to producer and exporting of commodities to other States for revenue generation.

Earlier, the acting Permanent Secretary of Taraba State Science and Technology, Mallam Abdullahi Gidado Abbare said that their aim of visit is to under study the various Departments frame work and policy of the Ministry in order to become more efficient and effective in the State.
