In solidarity with the affected communities, the Ministry assured that it would work closely with relevant government agencies as well as humanitarian organisations to ensure that the most vulnerable victims of the disaster, particularly women and children, receive timely and appropriate assistance.

The Minister further urged all citizens of the State to heed the warnings issued by the metereological department by taking necessary precautionary measures in order to avoid more loss of lives and property, adding that updated information on weather conditions as well as adherence to safety guidelines will assist in minimising the impact of the flood.
