The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, has inaugurated a twelve-member Ministerial Delivery Committee (MDC) to focus on the third quarter ministerial deliverables of the Ministry. The inauguration took place Thursday, October 3rd, 2024 at the Media Centre, Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Abuja.

In his address, the Minister acknowledged the significant responsibilities facing the Ministry, emphasizing the need for heads of departments to key into this “very important task.”

The Minister noted that the current administration, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, “has introduced this unique method of progress reporting” which according to him, aligns with the “Renewed Hope Agenda” and the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Accessible, Realistic, and Time-bound) principles; and urged the committee to align it’s activities with the President’s priority areas.

As the Chairman of the Committee, the minister called on members to meet at least once a month to address any unforeseen issues. He emphasized on the importance of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and expertise within the membership.

He hinted that the Ministry, along with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and the National Institute for Sports (NIS), will all report as a single entity, using single reporting template.

Senator Enoh appointed Mr. Yahaya Sallau, Director Planning, Research, and Statistics, as the committee’s secretary and Mr. Orok Effangha, his Technical Adviser on Strategy, as co-secretary to man the Secretariat.

The Secretariat is charged with the responsibility of tracking deliverables and to ensure the integrity of the process and aligning it with the government’s broader goals, focusing on transparency and accountability in public service.
