NOA begins sensitisation on new National Anthem, value charter in Nasarawa

FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has begun enlightenment and sensitisation campaign on new national anthem and national values charter in Nasarawa state.

Nasarawa state Director Dr Priscilla Gondoaluor, disclosed this during a press conference in Lafia.

She said that the conference was to sensitize Nigerians on the significance of the national anthem and the national values charter.

“We must build Nigerians, to build Nigeria. This value-reorientation campaign strategy is aimed at positively changing the current low level of patriotism and citizens loyalty to the country and government,” she said.

Mrs. Gondoaluor explained that all citizens has equal rights with regards to Nation building. “Today we focus on the national anthem and the national values charter Nigeria‘s anthem is a potent symbol of the nation’s identity, history and aspirations.

“It fosters unity, inspires patriotism, educates citizens and represents Nigeria on the global stage,” she said.

While commenting on the significance of national anthem in Nigeria, the state Director said symbol of national unity plays a role in uniting Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups under a common identity.

She equally said that it emphasizes shared values and goals, promoting a sense of belonging among all Nigerians, and serves as a constant reminder of the collective identity and purpose that builds the nation together.

On the culture and social Impact, the Director said this emphasizes the unity and brotherhood of Nigerians despite their diverse ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.

”In a country where ethnic tensions occasionally flare up, the emphasis on unity in diversity can help foster a stronger sense of national identity and cohesion,” she added.

Speaking on the national values charter (NVC) produced by NOA, she explained that is a blue-print to implement the national identity policy of which the contents of the charter will guide all Nigerians leaders and followers in their daily lives, whether in private or public.

In his remark, representative of the Director General NOA, Mallam Haruna Sule Director Finance and Account said that the agency has been advocating for a fundamental approach to value orientation and attitudinal change campaign.

”The act that established the Agency makes it clear what our mandate are including communicating government policies, programmes and activities; mobilizing support for them and processing feedback to government on these policies.

”It also mandate us to promote democracy as best model of government and promote values that will ensure peace, orderliness and moral conduct, over the years, especially in the last one year, we have pursued these mandates with extra vigor.
