FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – The Nasarawa state government in collaboration with Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) has trained 1, 513 secondary school teachers on Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM).
The state Commissioner for Education, John B.W Mamman, disclosed this, in Lafia explained that the capacity building training engaged 1.513 teachers with focus on how to receive, proceed and resolve grievances and gender-based violence (GBV), with focus on 696 junior and senior secondary schools and 29 area education officers across the state.
The commissioner, who was represented by the director of planning in the ministry, Hassan Mohammed, said the initiative was part of AGILE project, supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and World Bank.
The programme was aimed at enhancing secondary education opportunities for girl in targeted areas.
Speaking, Mr. Emrims Emmanuel, director National Project Coordinating Unit, explained that AGILE project was targeted at improving secondary education opportunities among girls by constructing new schools and refurbishing existing dilapidated ones.
The state project coordinator ministry of education, Aishatu Aliyu Isoga, advised that mechanisms should be put in place to allow for timely resolution of crisis.
“You should be able resolve all grievances within the school or community before it reaches the state level,” she said.
