FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu has again tasked Nigerians to emphasize Nigerian identities at all fora as a binding force to remain united as a country.
Issa-Onilu represented by Ibrahim Umar said the quest to unite different parts of the country through the national identity project cannot be overemphasised.
He stated this in Lafia during a one-day stakeholders townhall organized by the Nasarawa State Directorate of the Agency on National Identity Project.
He advised parents and the youths to instill national discipline and values to promote and project the nation at all levels of leadership.
Declaring the townhall open, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to building an inclusive society for the growth of the nation.
Sule represented by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Ibrahim Othman Angbolo commended the NOA for championing the campaign of building Nigerians to build Nigeria, stating the ideals of renewing values of the nation to chart a good cause.
He enjoined Nigerians to work hard in cementing unity for progress, reminding them that Nigerians have no nation but Nigeria.
In his welcome address, Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, represented by Jonah Dizaho, encouraged Nigerians to be advocates of national identity to develop the national projects and programmes put forward by the president for the sustenance of national development.
In a goodwill message, Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage l retired, Acting Rector of the Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic Lafia, Dr. Nurudeen Muazu Maifata, the State Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada and the Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Jaaffar Loko pledged to support the campaign to build Nigerians, maintaining that Nasarawa is working in line with the policy of the Federal Government to champion the cause of building a virile and united nation.
In a paper presentation, State Director of the Agency, Dr. Priscilla Gondoaluor, posited that the campaign to build Nigeria by Nigerians is to redirect ideals and values characterised by justice, fairness, dignity of labour, patriotism, urging citizens to play their own part with respect and love for the nation.
Gondoaluor challenged Nigerians to respect national values and leaders, assuring them of a better nation with the policies being implemented by the current administration.
