The Chairman, Federal Civil Service Commission, (FCSC) Professor Tunji Olaopa with his Hon. Commissioners paid a courtesy visit to Governor of Katsina State, Mallam Dikko Umar Radda Ph.D in his office on Monday.
The visit was part of the activities to herald the 43rd Annual National Council of Civil Service Commissions holding in the State from the 24th to 28th of November, 2024.
Received by Katsina State Deputy Governor, Mallam Faruk Lawal HCIB who represented Katsina State Governor at the occasion, Olaopa said the team was in the Government House to appreciate the Governor and also use the opportunity to rekindle the Federal Civil Service image in the face of rapid and contemporary development in the public administration.
Olaopa said the Commission is ready to partner with the State government in that direction to bring back the glory of the civil service.
While appreciating the Governor for his hospitality and warm welcome accorded them, Chairman said he was confident that the visit as well as the hosting of Council meeting will make things work and further help to effectively deepen development in the public service.
In his response, the Deputy Governor, Mallam Faruk Lawal thanked the FCSC Chairman for his visits. He stated that the visit and the hosting of the annual event will bring a very robust engagement and further discussion between the Commission and the State Government on how to innovatively move public service forward.
The Governor informed the Commission that the strategic policy drive of the State Government was to reform the civil service.
He disclosed that the administration work the talk by making sure that welfare of the State’s workers is adequately taken care of. He said the administration follow merit-based approach in its recruitments and promotions without compromising the Federal Character principle as practiced at Federal level.
He intimated the team that Katsina Sate Government is up-to-date in his pension and gratuity payment to its workers. He asserted that no worker was being owed pension and gratuity as they are paid as and when due once they are verified.
He assured the Commission of the State’s government cooperation and will continue to partner and support the Commission in its reform and re-engineering agenda.
