FIC Report (Katsina State) – The Katsina State government has presented the breakdown of the Katsina State 2025 Budget, titled “Building Your Future II,” at a press briefing held at Sa’idu Barda House, Katsina.
The proposed budget underscores the state government’s commitment to transformative growth and aligns with the campaign promises of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD.
In his address, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Bello H. Kagara, disclosed that the 2025 budget amounts to N682,244,449,513.87, marking a 40% increase from the 2024 budget. Of this, 76.85% (N524.27 billion) is allocated to capital expenditure, while 23.15% (N157.97 billion) is earmarked for recurrent expenditure.
The budget will be financed through various revenue streams:
- Internally Generated Revenue (IGR): N64.43 billion
- Federal Allocation: N316.91 billion
- Capital Receipts (Aids, Grants, and Local Contributions): N280.91 billion
The budget focuses heavily on economic development, social services, and infrastructure:
- Economic Sector: N302.25 billion (44.3%)
- Social Sector: N275.49 billion (40.4%)
- Administration: N98.27 billion (14.4%)
- Law and Justice: N6.24 billion (0.9%)
Major Beneficiary Ministries
The Ministry of Education leads with an allocation of N95.99 billion, followed by Agriculture and Livestock Development (N81.84 billion) and Works, Housing, and Transport (N69.68 billion). Other key allocations include:
- Ministry of Rural and Social Development: N62.77 billion
- Ministry of Water Resources: N53.83 billion
- Ministry of Environment: N49.84 billion
- Ministry of Health: N43.88 billion
The Commissioner emphasized that the budget is balanced, with total revenue equaling total expenditure. The theme “Building Your Future II” signifies a continuation of the 2024 budget’s objectives, aiming to deliver transformative development across Katsina State.
Alhaji Kagara reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, urging the media to support the administration’s efforts in creating positive awareness about the budget.
“Your contributions are invaluable in advancing the government’s mission to uplift the lives of the citizens,” he added.
The proposed budget now awaits deliberation and approval by the Katsina State House of Assembly.
