NLC Commends Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for Implementing ₦71,000 Minimum Wage in Kano State

FIC Report (Kano State) – The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Kano State Council has expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency, Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf, the executive governor of Kano State, for honoring his commitment to implement the new ₦71,000 minimum wage for workers in the state. This milestone decision signifies a pivotal step towards enhancing the welfare and living standards of Kano State’s workforce.

The NLC lauded the governor’s dedication to fair compensation, highlighting that the move not only acknowledges the contributions of the labor force but also underscores the government’s focus on fostering productivity and economic growth. The council described the governor as “Comrade Workers and Pensioners Friendly,” praising his leadership during challenging times and his prioritization of workers’ welfare.

The implementation of the new minimum wage is expected to uplift workers’ morale, increase local spending, and spur economic development across the state. The NLC assured the government of the workers’ commitment to reciprocate with hard work, efficiency, and dedication, aligning with Kano State’s public service standards.

Additionally, the NLC called on the governor to consider revising the minimum pension to align with the new wage structure, ensuring pensioners also benefit from his administration’s magnanimity. The council expressed optimism about continued collaboration with the government to uphold workers’ rights and welfare while fostering harmonious labor relations.
