The Honourable Minister of State for Education, Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, has emphasized the Ministry’s determination to boost business education in Nigeria, aligning with the renewed educational agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to enhance skills and opportunities nationwide.
Dr. Ahmad made this statement during a meeting with the Association of Business Educators of Nigeria (ABEN). She expressed gratitude for the association’s ongoing support of the government’s efforts in enhancing education.
The Minister discussed two significant matters raised by ABEN. These included the passage of a bill to establish the Chartered Institute of Business Education of Nigeria and the issue of National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) membership. Dr. Ahmad assured the association that the Ministry would carefully review these requests and work towards their implementation to improve the business education landscape in Nigeria.
Speaking earlier, Professor Lawrence Femi Ademiluyi, President of ABEN, expressed his appreciation for Dr. Ahmad’s appointment. He praised the Minister’s efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s education sector and emphasized the pivotal role of business education in equipping individuals with essential skills for economic participation.
Professor Ademiluyi outlined two key requests: the establishment of the Chartered Institute of Business Education of Nigeria, which would regulate business education and certify business educators, and the appointment of a distinguished business educator as the new chief executive of NABTEB.
In conclusion, the Ministry of Education remains committed to strengthening business education in Nigeria, and this meeting marks the beginning of a fruitful partnership between the Ministry and ABEN. We look forward to working together to develop a robust business education sector that will equip Nigerians with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in an increasingly competitive global economy.
