FIC Report (Niger State) – Niger State Governor Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has disclosed that the Federal Government will construct a Bridge across River Niger to link Kebbi and Niger State through Zamare and Rofia Communities.
The Farmer Governor disclosed this in Agwara Local Government Area while on a project monitoring tour across Niger North Senatorial District.
He said the bridge when constructed, will ease movement of people and goods as well as boost socio-economic activities, adding that in the interim, ferries will be provided to riverine communities in the area, and urged them to always use life jackets and avoid overloading.
The Farmer Governor further explained that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is interested in developing Agwara, Borgu and Babanna communities among others; hence, the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway will pass through the communities.
He said discussion is ongoing between the Federal Government, Niger, and all other State sharing border with Benin Republic for the establishment of a free zone for goods to be transported by rail through Lagos-Babanna-Cotonou.
While inspecting the ongoing 93 km Rofia-Lumma-Borgu Federal road reconstruction at the instance of the State government, farmer Governor Umaru Bago said the project will no doubt bring succour to road users plying the road.
He then disclosed that his administration will undertake the reconstruction of 55 km Lumma-Babanna road to boost socio-economic activities along the road.
The farmer Governor further directed the stakeholders in Agwara to decide on the location for the construction of a 5km township road with one hundred solar-powered streetlights be installed and that a borehole each will be drilled in all the 10 Wards of Agwara local government area.
