FIC Report (Abia State) – The Abia State House of Assembly, during its plenary session on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Austin Okezie (Umuahia East), successfully screened and confirmed nominees for the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC).
The plenary was marked by the presence of distinguished delegations from the Isialangwa North and South Legislative Council, who observed proceedings, as well as the leadership of the Student Union Government of the College of Nursing, Amachara, led by its President.
A letter from the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, requesting the screening and confirmation of seven nominees for the LGSC, was read during the session. The nominees included:
- Godwin Chinedu Duru (Aba South)
- Chief Joe Ezearu (Arochukwu)
- Dr. Orji Kalu Uka (Ohafia)
- Hon. Jerry Uzosike (Umuahia South)
- Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Nwagbara
- Elder J. E. Nwokocha
- Dr. Allen Nwogu
The ad-hoc screening committee, chaired by Hon. Anthony Chinasa Abiola, presented its report, leading to the confirmation of all the nominees as members of the Local Government Service Commission.
In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Austin Okezie commended the nominees for their outstanding credentials and expressed confidence in their ability to drive reforms and strengthen local governance in the state.
