In a defining moment that captured the very essence of what public service means, the Federal Ministry of Health & Social Welfare has emerged overall best performing MDA and, recipient of additional three distinguished awards, courtesy of the Servicom Office in the Presidency.
The four awards are – Special Recognition Award, Most Innovative in Team A, Best Performing in Team A and Overall Best Performing MDA, which is the ultimate; according to the Honourable Coordinating Minister for Health & Social Welfare Prof Muhammad Ali Pate.
Speaking during the Servicom organized End of Year Award ceremony for all MDAs, Prof Pate has described Public Service as service rooted in purpose, driven by commitment and, focused on results.
In a modest appraisal of the awards, Prof. Pate dedicated the accolades to Nigerians whom the Health Ministry serves and, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for providing the enablement to serve.
While describing the moment as humbling, he affirmed the Four Awards as more than an acknowledgement of effort, stressing, it was a declaration that our collective work, our systems and, early results are making a real difference.
These awards, the Coordinating Minister added, are a symbol of unwavering commitment to excellence in service delivery and to the promise we strive to fulfill every single day.
He continued in the same spirit by saying: “These awards are a testament to the dedication of all my colleagues—former Minister of State, Dr. Tunji Alausa @DrTunjiAlausa (now HME @NigEducation), my colleague, Hon Iziaq Adekunle Salako, @SalakoIziaq, the Permanent Secretary, Directors, SERVICOM Teams, Heads of Agencies and Hospitals, Regulatory Bodies, and all the great staff within the Federal Ministry of Health Social & Welfare ambit.”
According to Prof. Pate, the Special Recognition Award acknowledges Health Ministry’s sustained drive to connect government to citizens and, to touch lives through quality service delivery in the country.
“It is a validation of the processes we have strengthened through Sector-Wide Approach ( SWAp)- the enabling catalyst that has aligned efforts across government, development partners and, other stakeholders to drive meaningful change”, he further asserted.
While commending Mr. President for prioritizing health in his declarative statement on 12 December 2023; Prof. Pate reaffirmed and quoted him as saying ” health is back on the front burner of Nigeria’s policy agenda”.
The Coordinating Minister said: ” it was a charge to act, and we did. Under the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative NHSRII, we have advanced reforms that are beginning to restore confidence in our systems -revitalizing primary healthcare, improving health security, and ensuring access to care for all Nigerians”.
Speaking further, he said these recognitions challenge us to do even more- to innovate further, to deepen our collaboration with all stakeholders, ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind in our quest to deliver improved quality healthcare.
