Delta Police Command Deploys Men To Strategic Locations Ahead Of Yuletide Season, Assures Residents Of Adequate Security

FIC Report (Delta State) – The Commissioner of Police Delta State, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda has assured Deltans of a hitch-free Christmas celebration as he ordered massive deployment of Personnel across the State to provide adequate security before, during, and after the celebrations to ensure the protection of all residents in the State and the success of all activities lined up to mark the celebration.

The CP, in a statement released by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, SP Edafe Bright, directed that all Area Commanders, DPOs, and Tactical Commanders identify and deploy men to all venues of Celebrations and other resort centres to prevent mischief makers from showing their ugly faces and causing any form of mayhem to law-abiding citizens in the State.

According to the statement, Police Patrol teams have been drawn from Dragon Patrol, Safer Highways, Quick Response Squad, Rapid Response Squad, and Eagle-net Special Squad and deployed along Asaba/Onitsha Head Bridge, Anwai Campus gate along Illah Road, Onicha-Ugbo to Idumuje-Ugboko.

Similarly, men have also been deployed to Asaba – Agbor expressway, Abraka to Eku Road, and Asaba to Kwale/Ughelli Road.

Also, Patrol teams from Abraka, Ughelli, and Sapele Divisions respectively, have equally been deployed along Abraka, Eku, and Ughelli express Roads, just as massive deployment has also been made to all flash points within the Asaba Metropolis which includes Summit Junction, Inter-bau Roundabout, Federal Medical Centre Roundabout, Ibusa Junction by Nnebisi Road, Ogbe-Ogonogo Market, Government House gate, Coker Junction, Ezenei/Osadenis Roundabout, as well as Airport Junction and the Federal College Junction by Nnebisi Road, Asaba.

The statement further revealed that Traffic Control at the Head Bridge end has equally been taken care of as both police personnel and traffic wardens have been deployed solely for the purpose of traffic control while the Divisional Police Officers ‘B’ and ‘C’ Divisions Asaba and the State Traffic Officer have been tasked with the responsibilities of working with other security agencies to ensure free flow of traffic and effective supervision of Police and traffic personnel deployed to various locations.

The CP also directed the DPOs Ekpan and Ebrumede Divisions to ensure adequate security in Warri and its environs and to ensure free flow of traffic in the ever busy DSC and Effurun Roundabouts.

The CP in his statement, also ordered the deployment of marine Police along the water ways to checkmate the activities of Sea pirates and illegal bunkerers with particular attention on Escravos, Burutu and Warri waterways with a view to ensuring the protection of traders and travellers along the water ways.

He further mandated the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Operation to organize continuous ‘OPERATION SHOW OF FORCE’ with effect from Sunday 22nd December 2024 in all parts of the State with a view to ensuring a hitch free Yuletide period.

Meanwhile, the CP urges members of the public to be law abiding and continue to support the police in the fight against crime and criminalities while assuring them of the Command’s commitment in providing security, maintenance of law and protection of lives and properties among other duties in the State.

The CP on behalf of officers and men of the Command, wishes Deltans and Nigerians in general a hitch free celebration.
