FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – The Branch Controller, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Nasarawa State, Shehu Yakubu, has pledged to assist the Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, NAPHDA, to rehabilitate Primary Healthcare Centre Bukan Sidi as part of its corporate social responsibility in healthcare services delivery in the State.
The controller stated this when the executive secretary, Dr. Usman Iskilu Saleh, led management of NAPHDA on a courtesy call to the CBN branch controller in Lafia on Tuesday.
The Controller disclosed that the CBN desire to assist was not the first time, as according to him, the CBN some time ago constructed a health care centre in the Kanja community of the Wamba local government area, stressing the CBN is committed to revitalizing the primary healthcare centre in Bukan Side.
He requested the executive secretary to get in touch with them whenever the agency is ready for remodeling the PHC Bukan Sidi so that they would know the area they can come in.
Speaking on his visit to CBN, the Executive Secretary said they were in the CBN to seek ways for a strong collaboration with the bank to help in achieving the core mandates of the agency, stating that healthcare services delivery is everybody’s business. According to him, Fostering strong partnerships is necessary for the attainment of qualitative primary healthcare service, and he called for intersectional collaboration with the CBN to see how the bank can support NAPHDA in the area of provision of infrastructures, manpower, and equipment.
The executive secretary then used the occasion to unveil the state government’s efforts in revitalizing 58 PHCs through partnership with the impact project, adding that when the project is completed, every electoral ward in the state would have a functional PHC facility. On immunization, Dr. Iskilu revealed that the governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, is very supportive in the area of routine immunization and in areas of providing qualitative PHC services in the state.
