Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun, MCIPS, ACFE, hosted the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. M.B. Marwa (Rtd), CON, OFR, in his office in Abuja, during an interactive session aimed at fostering greater collaboration between the two agencies.
Welcoming the NDLEA Chairman, Dr. Adedokun emphasized the critical role of the BPP in ensuring transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the public procurement sector. He highlighted the Bureau’s commitment to upholding the approved procurement policy, which ensures clear and specific parameters for awarding contracts and conducting procurement processes, thereby contributing to national development.
In his remarks, Brig. Gen. Marwa expressed his gratitude for the support NDLEA has received from BPP and commended Dr. Adedokun for his proactive leadership and policies aimed at restructuring and repositioning the Bureau. He also briefed the Director-General, BPP on the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and drug abuse, shedding light on the operations of drug cartels and the measures the agency has implemented to address the challenges.
Brig. Gen. Marwa, reiterated the Agency’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with the BPP, particularly in the areas of procurement, fraud detection and the fight against corruption in the public sector. He emphasized that this partnership aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes good governance and transparency in public service.
Both leaders underscored the importance of inter-agency cooperation in achieving shared goals, and they pledged to strengthen the partnership between the BPP and the NDLEA to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance in Nigeria.
