The Honourable Minister of Education has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to equipping Nigerian students with essential skills in artificial intelligence, coding, and robotics. He emphasized the need for structured integration of these subjects into the national curriculum during a courtesy visit by the Coderina Education and Technology Foundation.
“The future is technology-driven, and artificial intelligence is now central to success in various fields. Without AI skills, thriving in today’s world becomes a challenge,” the Honourable Minister stated.
While commending Coderina’s efforts in promoting STEM education, the Minister stressed the importance of sustainable sponsorship, funding, and proper structuring of AI and coding education. He recommended formalizing collaboration with the National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) to integrate AI into the curriculum.
Earlier, the Director of Technology and Science Education, Dr. (Mrs.) Adenike Olodo, highlighted Coderina’s role in organizing national and international robotics competitions, fostering digital skills among Nigerian students.
Coderina’s Founder, Mr. Olajide Ajayi, noted that the foundation’s robotics and coding programs have expanded to over 2,012 schools, significantly improving digital literacy nationwide. He emphasized the impact of their curriculum reforms, which have integrated coding, critical thinking, and problem-solving into Nigeria’s education system.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to expanding AI and robotics education in Nigeria, ensuring alignment with national education objectives.
