FIC Report (Nasaraqa State) – Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has called for the intervention of security agencies to recover funds from victims of an illegal recruitment scheme involving the state’s Teaching Service Commission (TSC).

Speaking on the issue, Governor Sule emphasized that the matter goes beyond administrative handling, as officials allegedly collected money from job seekers under false pretenses.

“These people (TSC management team), we would report them to the security agencies because this is beyond administration. The aspect of them collecting money from people, I don’t even have the power to handle that. The security agencies should be involved to see how these innocent children would get back their money,” the governor stated.

Governor Sule also highlighted the impracticality of accommodating 3,277 newly recruited teachers in the state, citing financial and logistical challenges.

“How do we accommodate 3,277 teachers today in Nasarawa State? Where are you going to get the money to pay them? Where are you posting them? But that is not even the biggest worry. The biggest worry is that the entire exercise was not done on merit, which means we have engaged people who are not qualified to be posted as teachers,” he added.

The suspension of key TSC officials involved in the scandal reflects the state government’s commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process while addressing the concerns of those who fell victim to the fraudulent scheme.
