
FIC Report (Benue State) – The Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has approved the appointment of his Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity, and Strategic Communication, Hon. Solomon Iorpev, as the Director General of the Benue State Signage and Advertising Agency.
Announcing the appointment on Monday, 10th March 2025, Governor Alia tasked Hon. Iorpev with effectively delivering on the agency’s mandate, which includes the management and regulation of outdoor advertisements and signage across the state.
The Governor emphasized the importance of ensuring that Benue’s visual landscape remains aesthetically pleasing and safe, contributing to a well-organized and responsible urban environment. He congratulated Hon. Iorpev on his new role, urging him to see this appointment as a call to greater service to his homeland.
Hon. Solomon Iorpev is a seasoned professional with a master’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising, among other qualifications.
Meanwhile, the newly appointed Director General has warned against the indiscriminate placement of billboards and other advertising structures within and outside city centers across the state. He stressed that such improper placements contribute to urban disorganization and called on advertisers to obtain necessary permits from the Urban Development Board before erecting signage.
Furthermore, Hon. Iorpev has urged individuals and organizations with outstanding signage and advertisement payments to settle their dues promptly, as enforcement efforts will soon be intensified.
