Gov Otti Reassures Abians of Security of lives and Properties,Speaks Against Violation of Human Right

FIC Report (Abia State) – The Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti OFR, while speaking against the clash between the police and staff of De latinos Concept, an event center, has reassured Abians that his government is committed to the security of lives and properties of his citizens.

Governor Otti who was represented by his Deputy Engr Ikechukwu Emetu, FNSE, when he visited the scene of the incident that took place on Sunday night at De Latinos Umuahia, said Abia State government will always protect the life and property of every Abia resident, especially investors and thanked the Commissioner of Police for making sure that the people’s interest is well protected.

His Excellency spoke against the violation of people’s right to do business by any authority and promised that such perpetrators will be arrested and prosecuted.

In his words ‘the government is solidly behind investors in Abia and will not entertain any form of intimidation on investors from any authority”.

His Excellency commended the Commissioner of Police for prompt response to the situation irrespective of who is involved while promising the CEO of De Latinos that the right attention will be given to the situation after investigations.

The Abia Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, while addressing pressmen, made it known that Nigerian police has code of conduct and believe in the rule of law and order.

“We are here to ensure security of lives”. We believe in law and order, the police is not an exception to law and order”, he stated.

He promised that after investigation is done, the perpetrators will be brought to book irrespective of who is involved.

“I don’t want people to presume if it is police nothing will be done. As far as we are concerned, we want to have an eagle eye on this place to make sure that this kind of thing does not repeat itself”.

”We will monitor and also be in close touch with the management to make sure they have relative peace to operate” he said.

The CEO of De latinos Concept, Mr Emmanuel Okenini while speaking to newsmen revealed that properties worth millions of naira was destroyed and human casualties arising as a result of the clash between the police officers and his bouncers on on Sunday night.The clash he stated, took place as a result of a police officer refusing to abide by the rules and regulation that guides his place of doing business.

He noted that he is confident that Governor Alex Otti in alliance with Abia Commissioner of police after proper investigation will make sure that justice is done.
