………….Recovers AK-47 Rifle, One Fabricated Beretta Pistol And Two Locally Made Cut-to-Size Guns.
FIC Report (Delta State) – Operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) have made significant progress in their efforts at combating crime and criminality in the State, following directives from the CP. Olufemi Abaniwonda, the Police Commissioner Delta State Command.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP. Edafe Bright ANIPR, in a press release disclosed that the CP’s SAT operatives earlier arrested one suspect who was seeking to buy AK-47 rifle ammunition at about 2330 hrs on March 9, 2025.
The suspect was caught and during interrogation, the suspect disclosed the location of the hidden rifle. Acting on this information, operatives stormed the bush along the railway line in Agbarho where the suspect’s gang members upon sighting the police, his gang members engaged the police team in a fierce gun battle, during which four suspected kidnappers sustained serious gun shot injuries. According to the release, one AK-47 rifle with one magazine was recovered at the scene.
The injured suspects were taken to the Central Hospital Ughelli for treatment but were later confirmed dead by a doctor. Their bodies have been deposited at the hospital morgue. Efforts to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects are ongoing.
In a related operation on March 12, 2025, at about 11:00 hrs, an indigene of Ibusa (name withheld), reported at Ibusa Police Station that his friend’s wife was kidnapped on March 7, 2025. The victim’s family had paid a ransom as the informant revealed that he was the individual who delivered the ransom and other food items to the kidnappers.
Acting on the valuable information provided by the informant, the DPO of Ibusa Police Station promptly mobilized the patrol team from the Ibusa Division, along with local vigilantes to raid the area.
The operation led to the arrest of the suspect one Abdulahi Isah, in the bush. The suspect is currently in custody, and investigation is ongoing.
In another operation, on 13th of March 2025 at about 06:30hours, operatives of the CP’s Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) carried out a sting operation in Agbogidi area in Warri South LGA and arrested one Gideon Sunday ‘m’ aged 34years. The suspect was riding a tricycle alongside his gang member Godstime Solomon ‘m’ aged 27yrs and upon search of the tricycle, a locally made cut-to-size gun loaded with two live cartridges wrapped in a polythene bag and concealed in the engine compartment of the tricycle was recovered.
Still in Warri, another suspect named Junior Moses ‘m’ aged 30yrs was also arrested and a locally made gun and two live cartridges were recovered.
The operatives at about 1015hrs of the same date, acting on confessions of the suspects stormed Sapele town and arrested one Great Odiete ‘m’ aged 28yrs of Shell Road Area Sapele and recovered one fabricated Beretta pistol.
The suspects confessed to being members of Supreme Vikings Confraternity. The suspects and exhibits are in custody and investigation is ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police Delta State CP. Olufemi Abaniwonda noted that the proactiveness of the Command alongside cooperation received from members of the public has been useful and helpful as gradually crime is being reduced to the nearest minimum in the state, the CP concluded.
