Alausa Urges Smarter Reforms Through Data-Driven, Coordinated Interventions

The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, has called for a smarter, collaborative approach to improving the lives of young Nigerians, emphasizing the need for data-driven, neighborhood-focused interventions.

At the Ministerial Roundtable themed “Leveraging Big Wins and Investment to Catalyze a Collaborative Approach” in Abuja, Dr. Alausa urged an end to isolated efforts. “Transformative interventions must be deliberate, targeted, and coordinated across all levels of government,” he said.

He proposed a Program Implementation and Coordination Working Team, made up of senior aides and stakeholders, to ensure initiatives are transparent and accountable. “If people say they’re working on projects, we must ask — what exactly have you done? Where have you been? What progress has been made?”

He also stressed intergovernmental collaboration and urged discussions at the Nigerian Governors’ Forum to identify sub-national gaps. Dr. Alausa underscored the importance of accurate data, urging collaboration with the National Bureau of Statistics.

In her remarks, Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmed, praised the Ministry Leadership Program and emphasized initiatives like Teacher Support, Policy Implementation, and Almajiri Education.

Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, applauded the Renewed Hope Agenda and highlighted the need for evidence-based youth programs.

The Roundtable aimed to enhance collaboration across ministries to maximize Big Win investments.

Dignitaries included Ministers of Health, Youth Development, Arts and Culture, and Big Win Philanthropy leaders.
