FIC Report (Kwara State) – The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has inaugurated the newly completed Nigeria Police Intelligence School in Share, Kwara State, marking a major milestone in the Nigeria Police Force’s efforts to enhance intelligence-led policing.
The IG emphasised the urgent need for a proactive, intelligence-led, and community-oriented approach to policing, stressing the role of training, technology, and community collaboration in tackling contemporary security challenges.
In his remarks, the Kwara State Governor, Mall. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, lauded the initiative, describing it as a significant contribution to national security.
Represented by the state Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, Abubakar Bata, the Governor praised the IG’s “passion to leverage intelligence gathering, analysis, and dissemination capabilities in the Nigeria Police to decimate crimes and criminality.”
The Intelligence School is designed to train officers in modern intelligence techniques, including cybercrime investigation, forensic science, and counter-terrorism. It will also be opened to other security and intelligence agencies, with immediate commencement of operations.
The inauguration was attended by top police officials, including Deputy Inspectors-General of Police, DIG Benjamin Okolo and DIG Adebola Hamzat, as well as the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi.
