FIC Report (Lagos State) – The Federal Government has announced the temporary closure of the Ijora-Marine Bridge in Lagos State for urgent maintenance work. The closure will commence at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2025, and is expected to last for 21 days.

According to Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, the repair work will involve lifting the bridge deck to replace worn-out bearings and conducting other critical maintenance activities. These measures aim to enhance the safety and comfort of both motorists and pedestrians.

During the repair period, certain sections of the bridge will be completely closed, while others will experience partial closures. To mitigate traffic disruptions, carefully planned diversions will be implemented, and traffic officials will be stationed to guide motorists and ensure a smooth flow of vehicles.

Mrs. Kesha acknowledged the inconvenience the closure may cause but emphasized the necessity of the repairs to maintain the bridge’s condition and ensure the safety of all road users. She urged residents, commuters, and business owners in the area to plan their movements ahead and cooperate during the repair period.

Appropriate signage and traffic management tools will be put in place to minimize disruptions. The public is advised to stay informed about the traffic diversions and plan their routes accordingly.
