Nasarawa State Government Deepens Collaboration With Federal Government on Through PEBEC On Ease Of Doing Business

FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – The Nasarawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a conducive business working environment by strengthening its collaboration with the Federal Government through the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).

The partnership according to him is aims to implement reforms that will enhance the ease of doing business in the state, attract investments, and stimulate economic growth.

Nasarara state Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule, who chairs the Nasarawa State Enabling Business Environment Council (NEBEC) in the recent pass, emphasized the importance of aligning state-level initiatives with federal reforms; saying that the collaboration with PEBEC is pivotal in creating a seamless business environment that encourages entrepreneurship and attracts investors to Nasarawa State.

The governor during a recent NEBEC meeting on Presidential enabling business environment council PEBEC retreat also remarked that, the state’s efforts are in line with PEBEC’s mandate to remove bureaucratic constraints and improve Nigeria’s business climate.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who chairs PEBEC, highlighted the significance of synergy between federal and state governments in achieving these objectives, stressing that the business of government is too complex to be solved in silos as Collaborative governance is essential for simplifying procedures and building trust in our institutions.

Nasarawa State’s proactive approach includes participating in the States Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER), a World Bank-funded program designed to support subnational reforms.

Through SABER, the state aims to implement targeted interventions that will streamline business processes and improve service delivery.

Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Special Adviser to the President on Ease of Doing Business and Secretary to PEBEC, acknowledged Nasarawa State’s efforts, noted that States like Nasarawa are demonstrating that with committed leadership and collaboration that can create an environment where businesses thrive.

The Nasarawa State Government remains dedicated to working closely with PEBEC and other stakeholders to implement reforms that will make the state a preferred destination for business and investment.
On August 23, 2024 Nasarawa State Government through the Nasarawa State Investment Development Agency (NASIDA) office host a season on access to credit, this according to the MD/CEO NASIDA is done in partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria, Bank of Industry, Bank of Agriculture, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) Microfinance Bank , Access Bank, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and other key stakeholders from business-related Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The event main focus is to help investors and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Nasarawa State gain access to required credit. Business owners, investors, and relevant stakeholders discussed the challenges and opportunities in financing businesses.

The discussions highlighted the importance of supporting businesses to drive economic growth in the state, stressing that the state government is committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

The session according to the MD/ CEO of NASIDA Ibrahim Abdullahi is a testament to it’s dedication to empowering investors and entrepreneurs and boosting the state’s economy.

Federal information Centre Lafia is poise to ensure that enlightenment, awareness and sensitization campaigns are carried out in both rural and urban cities, secondary and tertiary institutions as well as public places such as markets, worship centres and motor parks with a view to ensuring the success of the government reform policies, especially on the present administration of president Bula Ahmed Tinubu reforms programs such as the students credit loan facilities, CNG conversion, Agricultural loan facilities, roads and Housing infrastructures amongst others to cushion the hardship of the masses as a result of the fuel subsidy removal by the federal government.
