FIC Report (Kogi State) – In a demonstration of compassionate leadership and commitment to inclusive governance, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has distributed food items and clothing to 1,500 widows from all 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State.
The initiative held at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja, is aimed at alleviating the economic hardship faced by vulnerable women in the state.
Governor Ododo emphasized that his administration is devoted to uplifting widows and ensuring that no woman is left behind.
“I have seen women who, despite the loss of their husbands, couldn’t afford to mourn because they must provide for their families. Caring for widows is not just a responsibility, it is a sacred duty. In Kogi, no widow will be forgotten, and no orphan abandoned,” he declared.
The governor also addressed security concerns in the state, calling for unity and vigilance among residents. He assured the public that the state government is working closely with the Federal Government, security agencies, and patriotic citizens to enhance safety and protect lives, regardless of political affiliations.
Governor Ododo praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for implementing policies that are making a tangible impact at the grassroots, including ensuring timely payment of salaries.
He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her continued inspiration and commitment to improving the lives of Nigerian women.
Speaking earlier at the event, Mrs. Ojoneh Ogata, Coordinator of Kogi State Widows, expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries.
“This is the first time widows in Kogi State are receiving such a gesture. It gives us hope and a renewed sense of belonging,” she said.
Many women,in their reactions to the initiative expressed delight that marks a significant step in Governor Ododo’s vision for inclusive development and highlights the role of effective governance in transforming lives, especially among vulnerable women.
