FIC Report (Ogun State) – The Ogun State Government has announced that the Gateway International Agro Cargo Airport, located at Ilishan/Iperu axis of the state, boasts the most advanced technology and modern facilities in the aviation industry.
This project is a testament to the Federal Government’s efforts to boost infrastructure development and economic growth in Nigeria.
According to Captain Dapo Olumide, Managing Director of the Airport, the airport’s state-of-the-art technology will enable efficient operations, reduce costs, and enhance safety. “Everything about electronics in this airport is state-of-the-art,” he said.
“This airport has the most advanced technology, not because we are swimming in money, but because technology brings your costs down.”
The airport’s features include a 4-kilometer-long runway, making it a Class E airport that can accommodate large aircraft such as Boeing 777, 747, or Airbus 330.
The aircraft parking area, built on 82,000 square meters of land, can accommodate up to 20 aircraft.
Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, assured that everything used in the construction of the airport is of the highest quality, conforming to global standards.
Commercial flights are expected to commence once all necessary approvals have been granted.
The Ogun State Government acknowledges the support and guidance of the Federal Government in the development of this critical infrastructure, which will enhance economic growth, create jobs, and improve the lives of Nigerians.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Dairo quoted “The Gateway International Agro Cargo Airport was conceived to take advantage of its proximity to Lagos and support the continued industrialization of Ogun State, in line with the Federal Government’s vision for economic diversification and growth.”
