Don’t scare investors into the State while performing your duties, Gov. Sule warns Gov’t officials

FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, has warned government institutions and officials not to create fear in the minds of investors which might lead to their disappearance in the State.

Gov. Sule gave the warning at the occasion of Special Public Lecture organized by Alumni Association of Isa Mustapha Agwai I, Polytechnic, Lafia in his honour for his contributions in Information, Communication and Technology as well as Skills Acquisitionin Lafia.

The Governor said that Nasarawa State was blessed and have the opportunity of having investors investing their resources in different sectors of the economy, especially the mining sector.

“There is no reason any government functionaries can go to the mining sites and begin to create unnecessary tension and fear that can possibly scare the investors away.

“Investors should not be scared by any government agencies in the name of carrying out constitutional functions” he added.

Sule said that investors are creating employment and building skills for the youths and are contributing to the economic growth of the State.

He disclosed that very soon Chinese would begin the building of Electric Vehicle Factory in the State, courtesy of lithium discovery.

Speaking on the establishment of Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, the Governor said the idea is to build skills manpower for global industries.

On his part, the former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, delivered Special Public Lecture titled: Building a Digital Economy: A A Sule Contributions to ICT and Skills Acquisition for Financial Independence among Graduates in Nasarawa State, where he commended the effort of Gov. Abdullahi Sule for investing hugely in transforming the standard of education from certificate base hiring to skills base hiring.

Pantami appreciated the Governor for prioritizing the education sector and his landmark achievements in ICT, Science Engineering and Technology, Skills and Economic development.

Prof. Pantami expressed satisfaction with Gov. Sule’s passion for women and youth empowerment and the establishment of Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute for skills acquisition.

He called for increased funding for vocational skills acquisition training, training and retraining of teachers in all levels of education, switch to digital agriculture, provision of economic infrastructures, provision of enabling environment for doing businesses to attract investors.

On his part, the Acting Rector of Isa Mustapha Agwai 1, Polytechnic, Lafia Mr. Ibrahim Dauda commended Gov. Sule for supporting the Polytechnic to grow from strength to strength and competing favourably with other renowned polytechnics in the world.

According to him, the Polytechnic is offering thirty (30) courses out of it fifteen are science engineering and science technology.

He said the polytechnic has established a skill development center training for youths in six different skills.

Earlier, the National President, Alumni Association of IMAP, Ogbole Arenya said the purpose of the event was to highlight the state alignment with national and global trend in digital transformation for sustainable development.

He said that the event was also to showcase tangible impact of Gov. Sule initiative in promoting Information, Communication and Technology and empowering graduates through skills acquisition thereby fostering financial independence and reducing unemployment.

Present at the occasion were Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Dr. Danladi Jatau other dignitaries in attendance included Member representing Lafia Central Constituency at the State Assembly, Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki, Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Barr. Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Special Assistants, Heads of Agencies and Heads of Tertiary Institutions, among others.
