FIC Report (Abia State) – The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, has commended the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Umuahia for embracing digitalization and efforts to revive their stations in the state. This commendation was made during a courtesy visit by the NTA management team to the Deputy Governor’s office at Government House, Umuahia.
According to Engr. Emetu, the Governor Alex Otti-led government is intentional about the welfare of everyone living in the state and is working assiduously to provide them with the comfort they need. He noted that the Abia State Government is aware of the critical role the media plays in projecting the government’s vision and achievements and added that NTA, as one of such media outfits, will be given the right environment to operate.
In response to some of the request earlier made by NTA, Umuahia, Engr. Emetu promised that the state government would address these challenges and provide a conducive operational environment for NTA Umuahia. He assured them that the government would take care of the issues raised, including providing security, improving access roads, and ensuring a healthy environment.
The General Manager of NTA Umuahia,z Engr. Onukwuru, lauded Governor Alex Otti and Engr Emetu for their impactful and people-oriented programs, which have shown that good governance is possible in Nigeria.
He noted that NTA Umuahia came to seek the support of the Abia State Government as one of the stakeholders that will help them realize their renewed dedication to reposition as a modern, responsive, and fast-growing public broadcaster.
Engr. Onukwuru highlighted some of the challenges hindering NTA Umuahia’s operations, including insecurity of property due to scavengers, an unhealthy environment due to refuse dumps, and poor access roads to their office. He pleaded with the state government to come to their rescue and provide support in these areas.
The meeting, which ended with promises of better operational environment for NTA Umuahia, had in attendance NTA management team members and the Deputy Governor’s aides.
