Abia State Government Pledges Continued Support for COREN

FIC Report (Abia State) – The Abia State Government, led by Governor Alex Otti, has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the Abia State Technical Committee of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu made this promise during a meeting with members of the committee in his Office at Government House, Umuahia. He congratulated them on their recent programme’s success.

Engr. Emetu assured that the state government would continue to support and collaborate with the Abia State Technical Committee of COREN to enforce engineering standards and codes of practice in the state. He also promised that all pledges made to the committee would be fulfilled, and their new prayer for operational vehicles and sponsorship to the South East Engineering Summit looked into.

Earlier in his speech, Engr. Victor Ihediwa, FNSE, Chairman of the Abia State Technical Committee of COREN, noted that the reason for their visit was to present members of the Abia State Technical Committee and brief the regulatory mandate and activities of COREN in Abia State. He expressed gratitude to the Alex Otti led government for their generosity and kindness to COREN during the inauguration of the Abia State Technical Committee.

Engr. Ihediwa commended Governor Alex Otti for his resolve to apply appropriate engineering standards in his projects, noting that COREN’s Abia State Technical Committee (STC), State Expatriate Monitoring Committee (SEMC), and the Engineering Regulatory Monitoring and Enforcement (ERM&E) have what it takes to help the state government achieve its goals.

He solicited for collaboration and support from the government in the area of provision of operational vehicles and sponsorship to the South East Engineering Summit.

The meeting which ended on a good note had in attendance members of Abia State technical committee and Aides to the Deputy Governor.
