FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – As the state prepared to receive President Ahmed Bola Tinubu on one day state,Governor Abdullahi A. Sule has called on political actors in Nasarawa State to rein in their supporters and avoid any conduct that could spark tension during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s upcoming visit to the state.
The Governor made the appeal in Lafia during a stakeholders meeting at the Government House in Lafia, ahead of the President’s visit to commission major infrastructural projects on June 25.
“I plead with all politicians to caution their supporters. Avoid anything that would create tension — it is not necessary,” Sule said, stressing that the period for political campaigns has not yet commenced and decorum must be maintained.
Governor Sule noted that while aspirants are free to promote themselves, it must be done peacefully. “There’s nothing wrong with showing support, carrying posters or placards. But please, don’t mount posters on the flyover and underpass we are commissioning,” he warned, adding that designated areas for billboards include the route from Usman Danfodio Cargo Airport into town — but not around Government House or nearby arteries.
He emphasized that President Tinubu’s visit should be a moment of unity, not division, urging all parties, regardless of affiliation, to join hands in welcoming the President.
Among the projects scheduled for commissioning are the Lafia Flyover and Underpass, the dualized 5km Shendam Road, the newly built State Secretariat Complex, and a solar mini-grid at the secretariat.
President Tinubu will also pay a courtesy visit to the Emir of Lafia and later address the people at the Late Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall.
Additionally, the President will unveil newly acquired Police Armoured Vehicles, operational Hilux trucks, and electric tricycles for youth empowerment under the state government’s economic initiative.
Governor Sule also revealed that Nasarawa has been selected by the Angolan government for the establishment of a major fertilizer plant — the second largest after Tanzania. A delegation comprising Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, and liaison officer Yusuf Maiangwa will visit Tanzania to observe the plant’s commissioning.
The Governor thanked stakeholders for their continued support and called for a peaceful, dignified atmosphere to mark this milestone visit.
