Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) Town Hall Meeting Held In Osogbo, Osun State On Wednesday 2nd July 2025

FIC Report (Osun State) – As part of PEBEC Nationwide tour across the states, the team held its Technical session and State wide townhall meeting on State Action Business Enabling Reform (SABER) at His grace Hall and Event Center along Ring Road Osogbo, Osun state.

The ceremony witnessed various stakeholders from both public and private sectors within the state which provided avenue to brainstorm on how to improve on their businesses at various levels.

In his Opening Address the Commissioner for Commerce Budget and Economic Planning, Professor Maruf Adeleke who represent the state Governor Ademola Adeleke, appreciated the Federal Government for the initiatives while assuring the participants that Osun state will continue to provide the enabling environment for business to succeed. He emphasized that Osun State has ever remain a peaceful environment where businesses thrive and He described the state as where cultural heritage is highly recognised as yesterday was tagged as Adire inception that the debt met on ground would be cleared and that is while the state has not properly involved in the SABER steps but that the state is highly in support of the programme.

The Director General Of PEBEC, Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, after welcoming the participants, said the OSUN State Government was proactive in implementing the deliverables embedded in the SABER initiative despite not accessing the funds under the programme. She further described the PEBEC as partner that offers technical support on doing business. She therefore urged participants to take the advantage of this initiative under president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Participants raised questions on some issues such as inadequate information about the programme and huge taxes place on business as something not auguring well.

In her own remarks, The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget and Development, Mrs Esan Yetunde said the Governor Ademola Adeleke, has discouraged multiple collection of taxes and levies by ensuring its harmonization through a single demand notice and that the Osun State Government has reiterated commitment to ensuring conducive environment to encourage the ease of doing business and investment in the State, and also vowed to continually work towards reducing the state’s debt profile.

Representatives of different Government Agencies, Ministry and Private Sector were present during the Technical session and statewide Town Hall meeting.
