The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, CON, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, describing him as “a true hero and patriot,” and “the epitome of integrity and national service.”
Dr. Alausa made this statement as he led the signing of a condolence register opened by the Federal Ministry of Education in honour of the late President, in line with the Presidential directive that all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) establish such registers.
Located at the Ground Floor Reception of the Ministers’ Wing, Federal Ministry of Education Headquarters, Abuja, the condolence register was signed by the Honourable Minister of Education, the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, and the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Enitan Abel Olumuyiwa, who all paid heartfelt tributes to the legacy of the late President.
In her tribute, the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, offered prayers:
“May Allah forgive his shortcomings and make Aljanat Firdaus his eternal home.”
The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Enitan Abel Olumuyiwa, described the late President as a national icon:
“Though we have lost a giant, his values and principles remain with us.”
Directors of Departments and Units, Ministry Staff, Education stakeholders, and members of the public have continued to sign the register as a mark of honour, solidarity, and respect.
The condolence register provides a reflective space for Nigerians to share heartfelt messages, recount cherished memories, and offer words of comfort to the bereaved family and the nation.
The Federal Ministry of Education stands in full solidarity with His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in mourning this national loss and extends its deepest sympathies to the family of the late President. Nigeria has indeed lost a towering figure, but his legacy lives on in the hearts of the people and the nation he served.
