FIC Report (Gombe State) – President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has commended the political class in Gombe State for demonstrating remarkable political maturity, unity, and tolerance during the wedding ceremony of the daughter of Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, former Governor of Gombe State.
Speaking at the grand occasion held at the Gombe Emir’s Palace, the Senate President expressed admiration for the presence of over 70 serving senators, cutting across party lines.
He described the turnout as a testament to Senator Dankwambo’s unifying personality and a reflection of Gombe’s welcoming political climate.
Senator Akpabio lauded Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his statesmanship and warm reception of dignitaries, describing the gesture as a rare display of political sportsmanship and hospitality in Nigeria’s contemporary political environment.
In his remarks, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, praised the Governor for fostering peace and political cohesion in the state.
He described the marriage as symbolic of unity, stressing that the coming together of families from different political backgrounds mirrors the national aspiration for unity across political, ethnic, and religious divides.
Also speaking at the event, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, hailed Governor Yahaya’s approach to leadership, noting his ability to celebrate the successes of fellow politicians regardless of party affiliation.
Saraki emphasized that such a disposition is essential in strengthening Nigeria’s democratic culture.
Earlier, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, welcomed guests and expressed joy at hosting the high-profile event which emphasized Gombe’s identity as a state of harmony and mutual respect.
The Governor reiterated his commitment to promoting peace, unity, and development among all people of the state, irrespective of political, ethnic, or religious differences.
Giving the vote of thanks, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, who represents Gombe North Senatorial District under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) expressed deep gratitude to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his unwavering support and friendship.
He also appreciated the dignitaries who graced the occasion from across the country.
The event drew the attendance of prominent figures, including the Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Governor Bala Mohammed, of Bauchi State, Governor Seyi Makinde, of Oyo State, Minister of Transport Saidu Ahmed Alkali, Former Senate Presidents Bukola Saraki, and Ahmed Lawan, the Senator represents Gombe Central Senatorial District, and former Governor of Gombe State Muhammad Danjuma Goje, former PDP, National Chairman Ahmed Mu’azu, Former Governor of Jigawa State Sule Lamido, and over seventy serving Senators, and other top political figures.
