FIC Report (Kwara State) – The Kwara State Command of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially commenced the physical phase of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
This was disclosed by The Kwara State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr, Hale Gabriel Longpet at the stakeholders meeting conveyed by the commission held at its headquarter in Ilorin.
The stakeholders meeting which was at instance of leaders of political parties, community leaders, religious faith group among other critical stakeholders.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Hale Gabriel Longpet expressed delight at the turnout of stakeholders and emphasized the importance of their active participation in strengthening the electoral process.
According to the REC in line with section 10(1) of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended), has launched the nationwide CVR with online pre-registration on August 18, 2025 while the in-person registration commenced today across the 16 Local Government Area offices in Kwara State, as well as at the state headquarters.
The REC urged eligible citizens to provide accurate and valid details during registration to avoid complications. He also appealed to political parties to complement INEC’s efforts by sensitizing and mobilizing voters, describing such collaboration as a global best practice for democratic stakeholders.
Also, one of the stakeholders at the event, Sunday Fagbemi, APC Chairman in Kwara State, urged all political parties to mobilize members for registration and collection of their voters’ cards.
