Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule Calls For Establishment Of Financial Crime Courts

FIC Report (Nasarawa State) – Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has called on the National Assembly to enact a law for the Establishment of a Special court for the handling of Corruption cases in the Country.

He made the called at an event for the passing out Parade of 104 detective Superintendent cadets Course 10 and detective inspector cadets course 7 officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) held at the Nigeria Police Mobile force Training College Ende Hills Akwanga, Nasarawa State recently.

The governor while addressing the graduating detective officers for their successful completion of their training from the college, commended the EFCC chairman for his state fastness in fighting corruption across the Country taking into account the numbers of corruption cases in the Country.

Governor Sule who also applauded the National Assembly members for continuing playing key role in supporting EFCC, also said that there is need for them to come out with a law for the establishment special court that would handle corruption and other related cases considering the high rate of Corruption cases in the country.

Chairman Economic and Financial Crimes commission EFCC, Mr Ola Olukoyede explained that the passing out Parade marked another milestone in the lives of the cadets officers preparing them for the task ahead in combating economic and financial crimes in Nigeria saying it is a clear demonstration of support to law enforcement.

He said that the Commission will continue to train and strengthen its workforce to effectively tackle cyber-enabled fraud, money laundering, and other scams in line with international best practices.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Anti Corruption, Senator Emmanuel Udende and chairman House Committee on Financial crimes Senator Ginger Obinna both said the event symbolizes the beginning of a journey in the fight against corruption urging the graduating cadets officers to ensure the maintenances of ethical professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

On his part, the Acting Commandant of the EFCC Academy, Joseph Ogwiji, assured the new officers of the Commission’s readiness to provide the necessary tools and support to enable them to perform effectively.

Earlier in his welcoming address, the Commandant, Nigeria police Mobile Force Training college Ende hills, Sunday Peter congratulated the cadets officers for exhibiting high level of maturity during the training.

Highlights of the event was parade display, silent drill demonstration, and presentation of awards to outstanding cadets officers.
