
Honourable Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Suleiman Ibrahim fsi, has challenged stakeholders to demonstrate greater commitment towards achieving the mandate of the Ministry in relation to the renewed hope agenda of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Minister dropped the charge today during a “Stakeholders’ Engagement on the Mainstreaming and Enhanced Implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda for Nigerian Women, Children, Families, and the Vulnerable”, held at the Army Resource Centre, Abuja.
According to her, the Strategic Roadmap of the ministry aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and with the Nigeria Agenda 2050, the National Development Plan (2021–2025), the international obligations under the SDGs, CEDAW, the Maputo Protocol, the Beijing Declaration, amongst others which focuses on eight interlinked thematic areas that address both the symptoms and root causes of inequality and exclusion.
The Minister stressed that by 2028, the ministry aims to
• Empower 10 million women to contribute directly to national GDP growth,
• Transition 10 million households to clean energy solutions.
• Support 5 million survivors of GBV with psychosocial and reintegration services.
• Enrol 2 million out-of-school children (especially girls) into safe learning spaces.
• Train 500,000 female smallholder farmers in climate-resilient practices.
• Deploy 50,000 women as peace builders and community mediators.
• Launch a ₦100 billion Emergency Intervention Fund for women and children in crisis.
“Our collective goal is to translate the Renewed Hope Agenda into renewed outcomes. This means aligning projects, consolidating resources, and ensuring every partner’s contribution fits within our overarching national framework.” She said
In her conclusion, Imaan challenged development partners, financial institutions, and private sector collaborators to multiply impact, not duplicate effort and to commit, from this engagement forward, to act as one ecosystem; united in purpose, be very deliberate in execution, and unwavering in shared resolve to secure a more inclusive, prosperous, and equitable Nigeria.


Earlier in her welcome remarks, the permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Maryam Ismaila Keshinron, expressed profound gratitude to stakeholders at the retreat, saying the gathering is not just a meeting; but a powerful affirmation of shared commitment to the mission of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and the vital agencies represented. She describes the gathering as a transformative journey together, dedicated to empowering women and uplifting communities.
She urged that the dialogue should focus on innovation and unity, adding that together, lasting, sustainable change is achievable
The Permanent Secretary charged participants to share their invaluable insights and experiences, noting that the voices are crucial in shaping the policies and programs that will pave the way for a brighter future for generations yet to come.
“Let this gathering serve as a powerful reminder of our duty to stand together—championing the rights and aspirations of women everywhere.
Director of planning, Research and Statistics in the Ministry, Mrs. Ibrahim Agnes Laraba, in a vote of thanks commended participants for making the retreat fruitful, particularly the Minister for setting the tone for the meeting in her presentation, as well as the Permanent Secretary and development partners for their contributions.
Participants were drawn from Management Staff of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, DG, Maryam Babangida National Center for Women Development, President of NCWS, Representatives from Development Partners such as the World Bank, UNICEF, UN Women, AfDB, PIC dRPC and NGOs.
