The Bureau of Public Procurement reaffirms its commitment to professionalism, capacity building, and training of procurement officers for continuous improvement of Nigeria’s public procurement system.

Representing the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun, FCIPS, CMILT, ACFE, the Director, Civil Infrastructure Department (CID), Engr. Nasir Bello emphasised the importance of competent, integrity-driven, and efficient officers in implementing the Public Procurement Act at all levels of government.

The three-day training is designed for Senior Procurement Officers (SGL 14-16) in the Bureau’s pool across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), in preparation for the forthcoming promotion examination to the next grade level.

Engr. Bello assured participants of the Bureau’s commitment to their success, not only for the examination but also to emerge as professionals who uphold the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and value-for-money in procurement processes.

The Director-General, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dr. Dasuki Ibrahim Arabi commended BPP’s innovations in digitalising procurement processes and emphasised the need to upscale procurement officers’ performances.

He noted that BPP is the gatekeeper of integrity and custodian of due process in public service and financial management, ensuring consistent training and exposure to global best practices.

The refresher training aims to refresh participants’ understanding of the Public Procurement Act 2007 and other relevant guidelines while highlighting their leadership roles in the procurement cadre.

Participants were encouraged to reflect the Bureau’s standards of integrity, fairness, due process, and excellence.
