The Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board (FGSHLB) has announced a strategic partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to enhance the recovery of outstanding housing loans and promote greater financial accountability.
The collaboration, which was initiated during a high-level meeting between both organizations today in Abuja, aims to ensure that public funds invested in staff housing loans are responsibly managed and promptly recovered in accordance with established guidelines.
This joint effort is expected to strengthen compliance, improve transparency, and safeguard the sustainability of the housing loan scheme for present and future beneficiaries.
Speaking at the meeting, the Executive Secretary, FGSHLB, Hajiya Salamatu Ladi Ahmed, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to responsible loan management and the protection of government resources.
She reiterated that the partnership with ICPC marks a significant step towards ensuring that defaulters are held accountable, overdue repayments are recovered, and the integrity of the loan program is sustained.
In his response, the Director, Operations, ICPC, Mr. S. Yahaya commended the initiative, emphasizing that the Commission remains committed to supporting MDAs in implementing policies that curb financial misconduct.
He assured FGSHLB of the Commission’s readiness to deploy its enforcement, investigation, and preventive tools to ensure that the loan recovery exercise is fair, lawful, and effective.
Through this collaboration, both agencies will jointly take appropriate enforcement actions where necessary.
The FGSHLB encourages all loan beneficiaries to take advantage of the ongoing recovery window to regularize their accounts in order to avoid sanctions.
